Hopefully many would see the benefit for them and others. As a way to promote this I had made weatherproof, durable, long lasting stickers laminated to withstand the rigors of Mother Nature, solvents, and scratching with permanent adhesive this actual size, 3x4inches . Yes it is.One state has their route 66 interstate bicycle path already. ONLY in IL. www.bikelib.org/route66 So we can do it here in California .Visit route66la@blogspot.com One of the great things about the old 66 was it took you all the way from east to west north to south-Lake Michigan to the Pacific by way of main street. I don't mean to say if you don't travel all the way then, whats the point? The point is we would have a shttp://www.bikelib.org/route66afer way to see a bypassed part of country.( not all of it is bypassed) The nations first true interstate Bike Trail .It would cost very little to connect the disconnected gaps . There are funds waiting! That's right. The fed has money set aside. It has guide lines and wants to help.We need to take action just like the great state of IL!Each state, city, county and town along the way would be part of the greatest and safest bicycle trail and maybe someday race on earth. The "TOUR de ROUTE 66 " Also we would have a hundreds of great, safe eco-tour rides.
Please post comments LINKS and e-mail Mitch Stein tourde66@hotmail.com route66la@blogspot.com For: Route66 Bike Trail sign stuff www.cafepress.com/tourde66

The Route 66 Trail / Tour de 66 .... gift for all.

Win win win..........
That's the way I see this idea that's time has come. It's a good thing to promote health .
Freedom of travel; for all ,even those that don't drive or own a car. From my experience,if travel by human power(you know,bicycles,velo-cars,recumbents,or roller blades)was safer, much safer. We would see far more families riding longer and more often.Yes more than just around the park, down the beach.Where can we show them safe (long) rides? We place bikes with semi-trucks.We make paths that for the most part start nowhere and go nowhere. Where are bikes welcome? Not on the highway, not on sidewalk. All I am saying is 80% of the route is there not being used. It has only a few breaks, washed out bridges, freeway crossings and gaps.
